Library Life: You Found WHAT in a Book?

Fascinating things can be found between the covers of a book - and I don't just mean the words. Amongst the pages of books and the cases of DVDs and books on CD, I have found many a treasure. Here are a few of the things I have found trapped between the covers of library items, from the mundane to the ridiculous:

  1. Phone bills
  2. Record of medications
  3. Actual medication (blister packs)
  4. Grocery lists/any kind of list
  5. Kleenex
  6. Wrappers for menstrual products
  7. Single dose eye drop containers (empty)
  8. Family photos
  9. Religious pamphlets
  10. A 4x6 magnet of a cow
  11. Hand-drawn comic books
  12. A piece of yarn
  13. Pens and pencils
  14. The publicity I put in there when I checked it out to you
  15. Goldfish cracker
I hope I made you laugh! These are all real!

  1. I hope the Kleenex were clean! LOL. But also...wrappers for menstrual products? 🤔 😂

Now I'm curious about the hand-drawn comic books. Were they so bad that their author decided to left them there, or so good that they wanted everyone who checked the book to see them?

    1. Thankfully the Kleenex always LOOK clean...when they are just one folded in half, I don't care, but the ones that are crumpled always gross me out!
I think the comic books are a mistake, and are left there by accident unfortunately. We try to get those back to their owners! I have seen some great ones and some awful ones - they are mostly done by children.
So sometimes we are asked to put donation forms, information about important programs, or our annual large booksale pamphlet in. I often still see these in the book when it is returned.

  2. I literally just went to the library today and checked out a few books... now I’m terrified I’m gonna find a surprise in one of the pages! I’m way too much of a germaphobe for that.

    1. Haha, we take them out, I promsie! ;) Honestly, it doesn't happen all that often (excepts for scraps of paper, receipts, that sort of thing), but when you find something interesting it is often REALLY weird.

  3. You probably need to wear gloves handling the books sometimes lol

I'm guilty of stuffing things into my own books but I would never with a borrowed book! And not some of the things you found!!

    1. I have some regulars who just plunk their bags on the counter and want me to empty it. Nope, not reaching my hand in there!
