Back to School

This week's Top Ten Tuesday from That Artsy Reader Girl is a Back to School/Learning Freebie, so I decided to focus on books where a large portion (or the entire portion) takes place in a school setting and is of importance to the plot.

1) P.S. Your Not Listening - Eleanor Craig
2) Stargirl - Jerry Spinelli
3) The Perks of Being a Wallflower - Stephen Chbosky
4) Matilda - Roald Dahl

5) Vampire Knight - Matsuri Hino
6) A Little Princess - Frances Hodgson Burnett
7) Speak - Laurie Halse Anderson
8) Never Let Me Go - Kazuo Ishiguro
9) The Princess Diaries - Meg Cabot
10) A Great and Terrible Beauty - Libba Bray

  2. I never think of Never Let Me Go when I think of book taking place in a school setting, yet it's so fitting - and a great book on top of it. Great picks!

    1. It definitely wasn't one I thought of right away, but it really is so central to the plot that once it popped into my head I knew I had to include it.

  4. I chose the same prompt, though I only have two of the same books. I don't know why I forgot to include Perks. It's a must read.

    1. Vampire Knight is amazing! Definitely one of my favourite manga series. Perks is really fantastic too, but it's a very emotional journey to get through.

    1. Yes! Always great to meet a fellow Vampire Knight fan! It's one of my absolute favourites as well, so if you have any recommendations, I would be happy to hear them!

  8. I remember reading A Little Princess when I was a kid. For some reason, the thing that I remember best was the long list of clothes and accessories Sara's doll was furnished with LOL. All the rest is fuzzy, to say the least.

I have strong feelings against titling a book P.S. Your Not Listening...really...there are so many people tearing the English language apart already (including some authors...)...if they see this in a title, they'll assume it's legit...

    1. That's a completely fair thing to have stick out. I always remember the rat has a long name that I can never remember ;).

And I get that, but it's based on true events, and the title is from a note that a student wrote to a teacher.
