- Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery
- The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux
- Emma by Jane Austen
- The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau
- Inkspell by Cornelia Funke
- The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett
- The Magic Finger by Roald Dahl

Some of these are movies I love, or musicals, or favourite authors...so there's barely any good excuse for why I haven't read these. Hopefully soon!

I've had 'Anne' on my shelf for a little while now, but not as long as some I featured today. Despite the fact that I adore this story (thanks to the movies), I've yet to read the classic novel (or anything my Montgomery), but someday I do plan to remedy this!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm in the exact same situation. I did try reading it once, but I found it slow and difficult to get through as a child. I think it would be a much easier read now!
DeleteNice list! I absolutely LOVED Anne of Green Gables! And Bridge to Terabithia is so sad and also beautiful ahh! Happy reading :)
ReplyDeleteBridge to Terabithia is one that I knew spoilers for almost right away, so it was difficult to be motivated to pick it up when I knew it would be upsetting. However, I still would really love to read it!
DeleteThis is the second Top Ten Books I've seen that has Phantom of the Opera on the list. I didn't even know it was a book!
ReplyDeleteI read An Abundance of Katherines years ago but can't remember a lot about it (John Green's books tend to blend into one in my head).
Have always wanted to read Anne of Green Gables. Feel like that's a classic I missed.
the golden compass is on my list as well!!! I'm so intrigued by the idea of daemon and here lately I've loved fantasy <3 AMAZING LIST :)
ReplyDeleteJust checked out your list - love the variety in your choices. Thanks for visiting mine!
DeleteI finally got around to reading the His Dark Materials series last year. Did you know that Cornelia Funke is coming out with a fourth Inkworld book? It is set five years after the last one. ☺
ReplyDeleteGood to know it isn't just me who hadn't read His Dark Materials! And no I didn't know she was putting out another one - thanks for passing that along. I'll have to hurry through Inkspell and Inkdeath to be ready.
DeleteI still need to read the His Dark Materials series as well, but haven't got to it yet.
ReplyDeleteMy TTT: https://jjbookblog.wordpress.com/2018/02/06/top-ten-tuesday-145/
I'm not sure I'll get to it this year, but maybe I'll put it on my TBR challenge for next year.
DeleteAnne of Green Gables is lovely. Emma is nice, not my favorite Jane Austen book, but still quite good. Here is my Top Ten Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Emma isn't my favourite out of any of the movie adaptations, so I have always felt little motivation to read it. However, I don't want to leave any Austen work unfinished, so I will get to it at some point.
DeleteLast year I finally read "Pride and Prejudice", and I`d want to read more Jane Austen novels. Good luck with your reading!
ReplyDeleteCarmen`s Reading Corner
As much as I love Pride and Prejudice, it definitely wasn't my favourite of her novels, so I think you will really enjoy reading more of them.
DeleteI finally kicked Katherines off, so that's fun! I haven't read any of your other picks, but I do hope you get to them sooN!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It should be a quick read at least, so maybe I will try it soon...
DeleteOooh a lot of good classics here that I want to read as well. Especially The Phantom Of The Opera, I love the movie and musical.
ReplyDeleteGood choices, feel free to check out my TTT list :)
